I would like you to write about the concepts from the scapegoat cycle: Death, Underworld, Resurrection, and Apotheosis. You can use either Annikin or Luke Skywalker to discuss how these themes work in the movie. Don't think that you have to cover all four themes, but I would like you to show how the cycle impacts the journey of one of these two heros.

As we have done before, choose a theme from the journey of the hero that can be found in the movie. Explain how that theme works in the movie, how it is similar to that of one of the stories from our text, and how it plays a role in the overall journey archetype. Be detailed in your analysis.

Death and the Underworld in _The Five People You Meet in Heaven_

Describe how your assigned theme occurs in the movie, connect it to a story we read in the text, and draw a conclusion about the value of death or the underworld in the Journey of a Hero. Remember to go to the next level of analysis. Don't just describe, analyze why your theme is important to the overall story. These are due by class Monday, March 1st. Late entries will be deducted 50%.

Withdraw and Quest in _The Matrix_

Once you have received the e-mail with your assignments from The Matrix, post responses here. Be sure to include all the necessary parts of the essay: a good example of your theme in the movie, a connection to another work we've read, and a conclusion that goes to the next level about why this theme is important in the myth of the hero.

Essays are worth 10 points and must be posted before class on Monday.

Your assignment is to connect the theme from the movie with the theme from a story in the book and draw a larger conclusion. Each claim should require at least 2 sentences of explanation. So overall this should require about 9-12 sentences.
